Vision 2030 in the tourism of Saudi Arabia

 

The kingdom of Saudi Arabia was depending on realign tourism, but now it started to build up a vision to focus more on both two types of tourism. Vision 2030 aims to decrease the dependency of the oil sector by raising the tourism sector. Religious tourism it aims to increase the capacity of Hajj and Umrah visitors from 10 million per year to more than 30 million by 2030. For the Leisure tourism, Saudi Arabia has announced about many projects to achieve this vision (Zimmermann, 2022). The projects are:

• The Red Sea Project: it is a sustainable tourism project where Saudi Arabia plans to exploit the Red Sea islands to build an amazing travel destination in 2030.

• Green Riyadh project: It an upcoming project aims to raise the green space in Riyadh and provide a healthy air. Since it is a crowded city with air pollution. By 2030, this project will make Riyadh a healthier place and attract many tourists.
